Holden is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts with a population of almost 18,000. Holden's landscape is dominated by rivers and hills and it is largely a residential community about 8 miles outside Worcester.
Holden has a mostly single-family residential real estate market, although there are many architectural styles found in the town. Holden has many country cottage homes in secluded settings, many of which were constructed in the 1940s. The ranch style home was popular in Holden in the 1960s and 1970s and many of these homes are available. Most ranch homes feature three bedrooms and between 1,200 and 1,600 square feet of living space. Of course, no Massachusetts town is complete without representation of the state's iconic Cape Cod architecture. Holden has many Cape Cod style homes, some of which are historic and built in the 19th century. There are also many homes that blend the Cape style with contemporary design and these homes were largely constructed between 1980 and the early 2000s.
While single-family homes are most common in Holden, the town does have some condominium complexes built in the 1990s and 2000s as well as some townhomes, including rare waterfront townhome developments.
